Channels and Follow-ups

Two settings decide when your agent's AI speaks on its own: which channels it answers, and whether it follows up with customers who went quiet. With the Public API you can change both from your own systems, for example pausing comment replies during a campaign or turning follow-ups off outside business hours.

Which channels can I control?

Every channel connected to the agent: Facebook pages, Instagram accounts and WhatsApp numbers, including disconnected ones (active: false), which you can list but not change (409 connection_inactive). List them to get each connection's id and its current settings.

curl https://api.mojeeb.app/v1/agents/YOUR_AGENT_ID/connections \
-H "Authorization: Bearer mk_live_YOUR_KEY_HERE"

Each connection shows respond_to_messages and respond_to_comments. Connecting and disconnecting a channel stay in the dashboard, because they need Meta's login. See the List connections reference.

A WhatsApp connection's id also lists that number's message templates; see List WhatsApp Templates. The website widget isn't in this list: it has an endpoint of its own; see Website Widget.

How do I switch the AI off for comments or messages?

PATCH the connection with the setting you want. Send one or both.

curl -X PATCH https://api.mojeeb.app/v1/agents/YOUR_AGENT_ID/connections/CONNECTION_ID \
-H "Authorization: Bearer mk_live_YOUR_KEY_HERE" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{ "respond_to_comments": false }'

With messages off, incoming messages still reach the dashboard and your team answers them; the AI doesn't answer them. Follow-ups still run on that channel: those already scheduled go out, and after a teammate replies the AI can write once more when the agent's handoff window ends. With comments on, the AI's reply to a comment can also send the commenter one private message. With comments off, the AI doesn't reply to that channel's comments. If the agent's comment auto-hide is on, Mojeeb still records them and hides negative ones (see Comments and Auto-Hide); with auto-hide off too, Mojeeb ignores them: those that arrive while both are off aren't recorded, and switching back on doesn't fetch them. Comments apply to Facebook and Instagram. See Social comments for how comment replies work.

To switch the AI off in one conversation instead, see Conversations and Messages. For a silent channel, switch both off. To stop its follow-ups too, remove its platform from the follow-up platforms. Follow-ups are set per platform for the whole agent, so this also stops them on the agent's other pages, accounts or numbers on that platform.

Reconnecting a channel in the dashboard, including when Meta asks you to log in again, sets both switches from its connect screen (on by default), so send your settings through the API again afterwards.

How do follow-ups work?

When a customer stops replying, the AI can send up to three follow-ups, each a set number of minutes after the AI's last reply the customer hasn't answered. The AI first judges whether a follow-up fits the conversation, and what it says comes from the agent's knowledge. Follow-ups run only on the platforms you choose. See Follow-ups for the full behaviour.

How do I change the follow-up settings?

PATCH only the parts you want to change: enabled, platforms, or steps. platforms replaces the whole list, so send every platform follow-ups should run on. When you send steps, they replace every step, and Mojeeb orders them by delay.

curl -X PATCH https://api.mojeeb.app/v1/agents/YOUR_AGENT_ID/follow-up-settings \
-H "Authorization: Bearer mk_live_YOUR_KEY_HERE" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{ "enabled": true, "platforms": ["whatsapp", "instagram"], "steps": [ { "delay_minutes": 60 }, { "delay_minutes": 1380 } ] }'

Mojeeb checks everything before it changes anything. An unknown platform returns 422 invalid_follow_up_platform, and repeated or out-of-range delays return 422 invalid_follow_up_steps. See the Update follow-up settings reference.

Common questions

Which channels can follow-ups use?

WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. The website widget has no follow-ups.

What are the limits on steps?

Up to three steps, with no two at the same delay, and each at most 23 hours after the AI's last reply, the same limit as the dashboard. Meta doesn't deliver messages sent more than 24 hours after the customer's last message, and the delay counts from the AI's reply, which comes after that message, so the last hour is a buffer that keeps every follow-up inside the window. A longer delay returns 422 invalid_follow_up_steps, and its message says why.

Does turning follow-ups off delete my steps?

No. "enabled": false stops follow-ups and keeps the steps, so turning them back on restores the same timing.

Do follow-ups work after 24 hours?

No. WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram allow free-form messages only within 24 hours of the customer's last message, which is why a step can be at most 23 hours. If a follow-up still falls due after 24 hours, for example because the AI replied long after the customer's message, it isn't delivered: on WhatsApp Mojeeb skips it, and on Facebook and Instagram Meta refuses it.
