Capture Lead

Capture Lead is the tool every Mojeeb agent is born with. When a customer shares a phone number or email during a chat, the agent saves them as a lead with their name, a summary of what they want, and any custom fields you defined. Leads appear on the Clients page seconds later. Nothing to connect, nothing to pay for.

How does Capture Lead work?

The tool is created with the agent and switched on from the first message. The agent reads an instruction that tells it when a conversation contains a lead, and when the moment comes it extracts the details from the chat and saves them. The customer notices nothing; the conversation continues normally.

Step by step:

  1. A customer shares contact details — "My number is 0100 123 4567, I want to book for Saturday."
  2. The agent recognizes a lead — The instruction says to capture when a phone number or email is shared.
  3. The agent extracts the fields — Name, phone, a one-line summary of the interest, and every custom field it can find in the conversation.
  4. The lead is saved — It lands on the Clients page with the status New and a link to the conversation.
  5. Later details merge in — If the same conversation reveals more, the agent updates the same lead instead of creating a second one.

Where do I find the tool?

Go to Tools, pick the agent at the top of the dashboard, and look under Active tools for the card Capture lead, labeled API call. It is there on every agent from day one. The card's three-dot menu (⋮) offers the Active switch and Edit; built-in tools cannot be deleted.

What does the agent save?

Three standard fields plus your custom fields. The agent fills what it can find in the conversation and leaves the rest empty. Everything is extracted from what the customer wrote, so the more a customer says, the more complete the lead; the agent never invents values for fields it did not see.

FieldWhat goes inRequired
NameThe name given in the chat; if none was given yet, the lead is saved as Unknown and a later capture fills it inAlways filled
PhoneThe number the customer wrote, or the WhatsApp number on WhatsAppNo
SummaryOne line on what the customer wants, written by the agent, for example "wants to book an appointment on Saturday"No
Custom fieldsEvery field you added on the Clients page, for example city, budget, or product of interestAs you set them

Mojeeb also records the status New, the agent, a link to the conversation, the moment of capture, and the customer message that triggered it.

When does the agent capture a lead?

Whenever its instruction says so. The default instruction fires when the customer shares a phone number or an email, and asks the agent to write a summary of the customer's interest. Change it to match your business: capture earlier, capture only serious buyers, or require specific details.

The default instruction, exactly as every new agent gets it:

Capture lead when user provides their (phone number OR email). Trigger with high confidence when contact information is shared. Summary should include what is the lead's interest (Ex. wants to book appointment on XYZ, requesting 2 XL sized shirts, Requested more info about the services, etc)

The agent does not need the customer to type a number on WhatsApp, because the number is already known from the channel. There it captures as soon as the conversation shows real interest.

How do I change when the agent captures?

Two places edit the same instruction. On the Tools page, open the three-dot menu (⋮) on the Capture lead card and choose Edit; the window Edit tool shows the instruction under AI instructions. On the Clients page, the three-dot menu (⋮) offers AI Instructions, which opens the Client Capture Instructions window with the same text. Save, and the next conversation uses the new rule.

Examples of instructions that work well:

Capture the lead as soon as the customer shows interest in a product or service, even
before they share a number. Include the product and the city in the summary.
Capture a lead only when the customer gives a phone number AND asks for a price or a
booking. Do not capture customers who only ask about opening hours.

How do I add custom fields?

On the Clients page, open the three-dot menu (⋮) and choose Edit Columns. Add a field with a key, a type, and labels in English and Arabic. Capture Lead updates itself the moment you save, so the agent starts looking for the new field in the next conversation; nothing needs to be reconnected. The Lead Management page lists the twelve field types.

Two details: the update only happens while Capture Lead is switched on, so after switching it back on, open Edit Columns and save once. And if a field's name does not say what it holds, explain it in the instruction, for example "budget is the amount the customer says they can spend".

Can I capture a lead manually?

Yes, for a conversation that has no lead yet. Open it on the Chats page and click Add lead in the chat header. The button shows Adding… while Mojeeb runs a focused extraction over the whole conversation, which takes 30 to 60 seconds, and the lead then appears on the Clients page. Once a lead exists the button reads View lead and opens it.

Each click runs the AI once more and counts as one message against your plan, and it is unavailable when your message quota is used up or when Capture Lead is switched off.

Can I turn Capture Lead off?

Yes. Open the three-dot menu (⋮) on the Capture lead card under Active tools and switch Active off. The agent stops saving leads for that agent only; existing leads stay on the Clients page. While it is off, Add lead in the chat stops working and changes to custom fields are not picked up. Switch it back on at any time, then open Edit Columns on the Clients page and save once so any field changes apply. The tool cannot be deleted.

Common questions

Will one customer create several leads?

Not from the same conversation. A second capture in a conversation updates the existing lead: details found again replace the old value, new custom fields are added, and a blank never erases anything. On WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram one customer stays in one conversation for good, so that is one lead per channel. A second channel, or a new website-widget conversation, creates a second lead.

Which channels does it work on?

All of them: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and the website widget. On WhatsApp the phone number is known from the start; on the other channels the agent asks for it when the instruction requires a number.

Does the customer see anything?

No system notice goes to the customer. The capture runs in the same turn as the agent's reply, so there is no delay or extra message; the reply is written after the save and may acknowledge it in passing, for example by thanking the customer for their number. From the customer's side the chat simply continues.

Can I see which conversation created a lead?

Yes. Every lead on the Clients page links to the conversation it came from, and leads captured automatically keep the customer message that triggered them. Open the lead and use the conversation link to read the full chat, which is the quickest way to judge how warm the lead is before you call.

Does Capture Lead count against my plan?

Automatic captures ride on a reply you already pay for, so they cost nothing extra. Each Add lead click in a chat runs the AI once more and counts as one message; it is refused once your quota is used up. There is no limit on the number of leads, they stay on the Clients page until you delete them, and exporting them is free.
